The Many Homed Nomad

in search of a gypsy caravan

where your heart is

i carry your heart with me
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go, my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
                                                        i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in my heart)

e.e. cummings

I am so glad I went to Smith instead of....

1. women do not think there is any benefit in throwing up on each other

2. these are the men who run our world’s most powerful corporations. No wonder Wall Street is fucked

3. the new head of the World Bank decided that, as an anthropologist, he couldn’t go in and “change the culture” when he came on as president….

OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD. This makes me so happy I don’t eat ramen or gatorade but also terrified. Thank you flatface for reinspiring my eating habits for the good.

Last fall we learned about an exciting new publication about the American Civil War. This brand new quarterly magazine is called the Civil War Monitor, and it looks to bridge the gulf between academic and popular history. According to the magazine, it is “devoted to the belief that popular history need not be superficial or sentimental.”

Several things: 1. Yes, I do follow the naval history tumblr, 2. Cole Haan is selling those boots right now. 3. This is an American Studies magazine (how silly!) 4. This one’s for you, Miss Taylor.
